A 75-year-old man in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, who sought to escape solitude by remarrying, was found dead the morning after his wedding. The deceased, identified as Sangruram of Kuchhmuchh village, had been living alone and depending on farming since the death of his first wife a year prior. Against the advice of his family, he married 35-year-old Manbhavati in a court marriage followed by a small temple ceremony on 29th September, hoping to find companionship with a woman half his age.
Manbhavati, who was also entering her second marriage and has three children, told villagers the couple spent much of their wedding night talking, as her new husband had reportedly promised she would only need to manage the household while he provided for her children. However, the short-lived dream of companionship was shattered when Sangruram's health suddenly deteriorated the following morning. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital but was declared dead upon arrival, with the official cause of his sudden demise remaining unknown.
The shocking circumstances surrounding Sangruram's death have triggered a wave of suspicion and skepticism among villagers. Adding to the uncertainty, his relatives, who reside in Delhi and had not yet arrived, have reportedly intervened, requesting that the funeral proceedings be halted until they reach the village. This development suggests that the family may seek further clarity or investigation into the sudden death that has prematurely ended the elderly man’s second marriage.
